FAQ

  • Do I have to be certified to apply pesticides?

    Yes. The NYS law states that you are required to be certified if you use any pesticide as part of your lawn and/or shrub care business.  Anyone found to violate this law can be fined up to $5,000.00 per violation.

  • Do I have to purchase the manuals separately?

    The manuals that you will need are included in the cost of the course.  There is no need to search for and purchase the manuals elsewhere before you attend the class, we take care of it for you.

  • How do I make a payment for the course?

    Payments for the classes can be made by check or credit card.  print out the form and submit by mail for check and credit card payments.  Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

  • How long does it take to get my certification?

    It will depend on when you schedule your testing.
    After you finish the course you will take your test on your scheduled date.  The NYS D.E.C. can take up to 4 weeks to mail your ID Certification Card.

  • How much does it cost to maintain my pesticide applicators license?
    • Certified Commercial Pesticide Applicator and Technician Fee: $450 every 3 years for the first category of certification and $150 every 3 yearsfor each additional category of certification. (1 category = $450, 2 categories = $600, 3 categories = $750, etc)
    • Aquatic Antifouling Paint Applicator Fee: $450 every 3 years.
    • Certified Private Applicator Fee: $25 every 5 years.
    • Second or subsequent private applicator working on same farm: $5 every 5 years.
